About

The mission

Forecast Florida is the definitive portal for the Sunshine State's weather and climate — built to make the official National Weather Service forecast fast, clean, and highway-clear for every corner of the peninsula, from the western Panhandle to the last mile marker in Key West.

Florida is unlike any other forecast in the country: two coasts, a subtropical south, a temperate north, the daily summer storm engine, and a hurricane season that defines half the year. Forecast Florida is being built to tell that whole story — county by county, region by region.

The design language

The look borrows from the American Interstate system — the warm reflective paper, the green guide signs, the blue service signs, the brown recreation signs, and the red-white-and-blue route shields. It's a wayfinding system for weather, set in Overpass — the typeface drawn from the FHWA Highway Gothic lettering on those very signs.

Metro & region sites

Florida is covered close-up by 7 region sites, each on its own subdomain of forecastflorida.com — the same maps, the same live radar and the same climate record as this site, drawn to one metro or region instead of the whole state, with a page for every city in it. They are part of Forecast Florida, not separate sites: /about on any of them lands back here.

Companions & the network

Forecast Miami covers the Gold Coast — Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach — on its own domain, forecastmiami.com, and miami.forecastflorida.com hands off to it. The South Florida region here is the wider fifteen counties, Fort Myers, Naples, Sarasota and the Keys included. Forecast Florida is part of a growing family of weather sites — and both of its neighbors, Forecast Georgia and Forecast Alabama, are now live. Each hero map shows the others as interlocking puzzle pieces; click a neighbor on the map to cross the state line. The interstate keeps going.
